Damage Reduced By Sprinklers |

March 2011
2011 will represent a milestone in Ultrasafe’s history, marking its 10th successive year of trading. This is a great achievement considering that recent statistics show that typically sprinkler installers operate for half of this amount of time.
This year brings with it exciting opportunities for the company. Ultrasafe have secured contracts with two state schools in Surrey and Kent who will see the benefit of having new Low Flow sprinkler technology installed. The new year will also see Ultrasafe continue to work closely with local fire and rescue services. Our mobile display unit will be making an active presence within the East Sussex county - including Eastbourne’s 999 Weekend in July.
To help show the devastating impact a fire can have East Sussex Fire and Rescue (ESFRS) have developed a Black Museum, highlighting the key safety messages from real fires. Included is a cast study of how a sprinkler system, designed and installed by Ultrasafe, saved the life of a family in Eastbourne. Please visit ESFRS website: http://www.esfrs.org/blackmuseum/lighter.shtml
Live Burn demonstrations and CPD presentations at Manston will be available throughout the year, beginning on March 22nd 2011. If you would like to attend please contact us on 08451 800339 to book a place.
September 2010
Ultrasafe is currently seeking ISO 9001 accreditation. Managing Director, Keith Morris, is optimistic that Ultrasafe can satisfy the criteria necessary to implement and maintain its quality policy by early 2011. ISO 9001 represents Ultrasafe’s commitment to and consistent improvement of quality in terms of its products and components used, its customer service given and its general operations and procedures.
August 2010
Alongside Kent fire and rescue we successful held a live burn demonstration and CPD presentation at the Ministry of Defence fire training school in Manston. The audience included representatives from local building control as well as architects and designers. It is hoped that a greater understanding and awareness of sprinkler systems will ultimately help reduce the number of domestic and residential fires and deaths.
Water mist activation saves lives...
November 2009: Three days after we commissioned a water mist-system in Eastbourne, a fire occurred at the property. One sprinkler head was activated and extinguished the fire immediately. East Sussex Fire and Rescue were called to find that the occupants of the property had safely escaped. Ultrasafe Fire Solutions were immediately called out to re-commission the system and within seven hours the family were back in their property.
Thanks to our partnership with East Sussex Fire & Rescue (who had identified the property as a fire risk), we helped to save the lives of the family as well as their property and the property adjacent. Adrian Brown, Director of Fire Protection for East Sussex Fire & Rescue commented that it was a ‘...great example of use of our resources and partnership workings.’
Fire Sprinklers save the day...
1st September 2009: East Sussex Fire Rescue Service were called to a reported smell of smoke in a building. Two fire engines were sent and a fire in a basement flat was discovered
A fire was discovered in a basement bedroom. Fortunately the building had been fitted with a residential fire sprinkler system which had almost extinguished the fire before the brigade arrived.
The sprinkler system sounded a fire alarm which allowed the occupants to escape safely.
Thanks to the sprinkler system, the damage was low and the Brigade had little to do.
Adrian Brown Director of Prevention & Protection for East Sussex Brigade said “Once again we see the benefits of having a properly installed and working sprinkler system, there are many myths about sprinklers. The reality is they save lives and property as we have seen in this instance. This just shows why the Fire & Rescue Service are keen promoters of sprinklers”
‘Ultrasafe Fire Solutions’ who installed the sprinkler system agreed that the situation could have been a lot worse and that there may have been fatalities if a sprinkler system had not been fitted’
Keith Morris from Ultrasafe Fire Solutions added “when designing a system ‘life safety’ is our primary concern. Fire should never be underestimated it does not discriminate. A sprinkler system is like having a 24 hour fire fighter in your property.
